FLORIDA BOATING: 5 TIPS FOR A WEEKEND ON THE WATER

Florida boating weekends are so much fun. Here are our 5 tips for a weekend on the water

  1. Sun Protection! Sun Protection! Sun Protection! Even if its overcast, the sun bounces off the water and the boat and will burn you in places you didn’t even know burn. Good sun protection is a long sleeve sun shirt , a hat and sunscreen.
  2. Safety first! An EPIRB is worth the investment. Especially, if you plan on Florida boating offshore. An EPIRB is a GPS device registered with the Coast Guard. It sends out a distress signal to rescue forces worldwide and increases your rate of survival out at sea in the case of an emergency.
  3. Stay hydrated with lots of water and beverages. Ditch the plastic bottles for a gallon jug. We recommend the Yeti
  4. Check the weather radar, especially if you see a storm rolling in. Coastal changes happen so quick and often. You don’t want to get caught in a lighting storm, super dangerous and scary.
  5. Have fun! Florida boating is place to relax, explore and adventure. Use respect for yourself and other boaters out there. Follow the law and be responsible.
